I'm Sorry Little One

So we went to get K's one year vaccines last week. Oh I just hate it. I thought the other times when I watched were bad. This time the nurse made me hold her knees down while they poked or should I say stabbed her five times in the leg. She definitely let me know about it afterwards. I felt so bad, but hey it's for her own good. Not only that, I had to take her up to the hospital to get her blood drawn for screenings. That was pretty sad too. She did get a certificate for being such a brave girl.

From That To This

Babies grow up way too quick. Time goes by way too fast. My baby isn't a baby anymore. I miss her baby stages so much. I am sad to say that my little girl is a year old. We finally decided to celebrate K's birthday. She had a cold on the week of her birthday. I know she wouldn't have enjoyed it feeling crummy. It was so much fun. Yes, she did get spoiled. That's what happens when your the first grand baby on both sides of the family.

Her mini cake. These cakes are so cute. Thank you Wal*Mart.
Yay! She didn't know what to do with the cake at first.
Digging in. She did lots of playing. That's okay.

Merry Chirstmas!

What a great Christmas, even though it snuck up on us too quick. We had tons of fun with our little one. She did not know what to think about her new toys. She kept going back to play with her old toys. She also enjoyed playing with the wrapping paper and the bows. Kortney did get spoiled, especially being that she is the first grandchild. She is such a joy in our life.

It was nice talking to my brother on the phone. Elder Torres has been out in the mission field a whole week. He is doing great and is enjoying the 80 degree weather in Laredo, Texas. I am so proud of my little brother.

Here she is. It has been difficult to get a picture of her looking at the camera lately. So this is as good as it gets.

You Better Not Cry

We wanted to find Santa for K. Not only that, we wanted to find a place where Mr. Clause would not be in a big crowed and wait hours to see him. We heard that Santa would be at Hogi Yogi in Rexburg. We headed to Hogi Yogi on Saturday. At first, K just stared in amazement at the guy in a red suit and beard. I could not get her to look at me to take the picture. After what seemed to me like a ton of picture snaps, she decided it was enough. She did not want to be on Santa's lap.

She is totally entranced by his white beard. Santa still looking good after all these years.

I still couldn't get her to look at me.

"I have had enough." I absolutely love this picture.

A Great Book for the Holidays

This is a must read book. I received this book for my birthday from my mother-in-law, T. I must say she did great. I am always up for a good book to read. If you want to read an uplifting story for the season this is it. It touched me for sure. I highly recommend this one.

Black Friday

Did you participate in the madness? How did it go? Did you get killer deals? Did you get everything you wanted? I sure hope so.
I skipped out on Black Friday this year. I did see things that I wanted in the ads, but nothing really that I needed. I will admit there were good deals out there. I just decided that sleeping in and staying in my warm bed sounded much better than fighting the crowds and braving the cold. There is always next year or the one after that.

Tagged!

Yay! This my first tag. Thanks Roz. The rules are simple...I just had to go to my fourth picture in my photo file and post my fourth picture. That's my Camry. It used to be anyway. We had to upgrade after we had the baby. It was difficult to crawl in and out of the car to pull her out. After the gas prices soared, I was kind of bummed we sold it. Gas prices are coming down though!
I tag any one who hasn't had the chance to participate in this tag...I think Angie Ingram hasn't been tagged!

Twilight...THE MOVIE!

I saw it and loved it. You have to go see it. I won't say much more to prevent from ruining the movie. It was fun to be at a show where the majority (99.9%) were females and to hear the oooos and aaaawes simultaneously.

Missionary Training Center

Sniff. Sniff. Today was the big day. We headed out this early this morning towards the Missionary Training Center in Provo, Utah. Elder Torres had to report at 1 p.m.

All I can say it is definitely a bittersweet moment. It was difficult to say bye to my brother, I can only imagine how it will be sending off my own kids. I am proud of the decision he has made to serve the Lord. He will be in the MTC for three weeks because he already knows how to speak Spanish and then it is off to Texas. Elder Torres will do an amazing job serving in the Texas McAllen Mission.

Just a couple of minutes away from the MTC.

Mission Farewell

My brother delivered his mission farewell talk in church today. Of course he had to make everyone chuckle at first. Tony had Bishop Thurston rolling off his chair. If we wouldn't have been in church I am pretty sure he would have hit the floor with pounding fists. He did great a great job. If he was nervous, you couldn't tell. He was glowing. It has been so neat to see him grow up and mature as he has been preparing for his mission. He is going to do awesome.

We had a full house for his luncheon, especially when they heard it was going to be authentic Mexican food. My mom is an amazing cook. My mom cooked up some yummy posole and tacos de res, as well as rice and beans. She had a friend make the tamales because of the lack of time. There was lots to choose from. We all had a good time.

Kmart Pulls Through

So this weekend we decided to stop into Kmart in Rexburg just for the fun of it. We ended up in the toy section thinking birthday and of course a head start for Christmas. We showed K the Tickle Me Elmo and made it laugh for her. Her reaction was priceless. We had to get it for her. Elmo was on the clearance isle all alone and without a price. We knew he wasn't going to be cheap. I sent C to price scan it. To make a long story short, C couldn't get the scanner to work so he asked a gal to check it out for us. Elmo scanned in at a PENNY. The gal told us she wouldn't be able to sell it to us. We told her we had to have it. She went and asked her manager what they could do to help us out. We walked out with Elmo for $5. Yay for Kmart! Yay for what a great deal!

Now What?

I certainly did my duty and voted on November 4th. I am grateful I have that right. Outcomes show that President-elect Barack Obama will be the one to run the United States of America. It will be interesting to see what happens. I really like this quote by Obama, "And those Americans whose support I have yet to earn, I may have not won your vote tonight, but I hear your voices. I need your help. And I will be your president too."
That's the least he can do.

Happy Halloween!

What a fun time of the year. The weather is even cooperating. This is K's first Halloween. We skipped the whole pumpkin carving idea, only because she would be putting the carvings in her mouth. Next year we will certainly have some fun with it. This year we dressed her up as a little pumpkin and man was she a cutie. We did have 2 trick-or-treaters come to our house. Wahoo! A great improvement from last years 0. We went to our ward Halloween Party and ate some yummy chili. The day couldn't end without going to see the grandparents and having her bag filled with loot. Our Little Pumpkin.
We can't forget our Emmett. He really is an angel.

Locks of Love

I would say that my hair grows pretty fast. At least I think so. The last time I chopped it was back in the summer of 2006. I wanted to donate it back then, but decided against it. I don't know why. So this time I bucked up and made my appointment. I was ready for it to be butched anyway. I heard about Brian Vohs at An Ultimate Look Salon in Idaho Falls, and decided to give him a try. I mean what do I have to lose. My hair will grow back eventually. I am donating 14 inches to Locks of Love. An added bonus to cutting my hair, was that Brian did it all for free since it's for a good cause. I saved myself some bucks. I highly recommend Brian.
The back of head. It will be awhile before it looks like this again.
Look at that.

My new look. I like it!

Scouting For Food

It's that time again...Scouting for Food on October 25th. Because I am a leader in the Cub Scouts, I want to give you heads up. Earlier today my boys and I went and passed out door hanger fliers for reminders around our neighborhood. By the end we were tired, but the start of a good deed has begun.
"On Saturday, October 25th, your donations will be used to fight hunger in our local communities. Please use any grocery sack to put your donations in for the boys to pick up. Please no glass containers. Scouts will be coming to your door beginning at 9:00 a.m. PLEASE DON'T FORGET and GIVE GENEROUSLY."

How Many Does It Take To Put Up A Shed?

That is the question I am asking. The directions say you only need a couple of people doesn't that mean just two people right? Well the directions lie. You need at least three people, four is even better. Also, the weather has to cooperate. If you have wind, you might as well try another day or it is good bye metal. This weekend C decided it was time to put it up. They were somewhat successful. By that I mean they didn't quite finish it. It got too dark.

M, the pro, showing C and A how its done.

This is how family works.

Spud Harvest

You can't say you are a true Idahoan until you've experienced spud harvest. That's right! C decided he would use his work vacation by helping his family out in Egin. He absolutely loves spud digging time. We decided to expose our little K. Hey it's never too early. Plus she absolutely adores her Great Grandpa and Grandma Richards. A perfect excuse to go visit daddy and the Greats.
Here they are riding in the truck being loaded by the digger.

Look at her. She is a natural. Ready to drive off in daddy's truck.

Finally Finished

Yes, I finally finished reading Breaking Dawn. What did I think of it? First of all I must begin telling you that I began reading the series about this exact time last year. My coworker "B" said would you like to read some good books. The thought in my head was, "Are you kidding me!" Just to be nice I decided to give in. I also wanted to know what all the hype was about.
I began the fist book. It took me two days. I was on to the second then the third. Within two week I had the books read. I must admit I was hooked. So I returned the books back to "B" and told her thanks. I mention to her I wish there was a forth book. I want to know the detail about Bella's wedding. "B" told me that I would have to wait until next year to read the book. I was surprised...Meyer is actually coming out with a fourth book.
I did enjoy Breaking Dawn. It took me longer to read than what I had expected. The story this time seem almost too predictable for me. I knew what was going to happen before it happened. It seem that Meyer drag it out with tons filler, which isn't bad unless you become impatient like me. I just wanted to know sooner and get done with. I am glad it all played out well and there is a "happily ever after." I hope there isn't a fifth book in the series. I don't think I could handle that one.

Mission Call

A week ago today, my brother Tony received his mission call from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. This is very exciting especially since he is the first one to serve a mission on either side of the family. He has been called to serve in the Texas McAllen Mission. He will enter the MTC on November 19th. We are all excited for him and wish him the best in his endeavors to serve the Lord. Elder Pike and Elder Pope would be tickled to see the work they have accomplished while they served in the Idaho Pocatello Mission.

This Blogging Idea

Wow! This whole blogging thing is new to me and a bit overwhelming. I will have to play with it. I just hope that I can keep it current, since I am oh so busy...NOT. Any tips and cool tricks that you would like to share, please do so. I would greatly appreciate it.
